Experiential Learning
Students in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment learn through immersive, real-world experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Opportunities include undergraduate research, fieldwork, internships, community engagement, study abroad, conservation projects, and collaborations with environmental organizations and agencies.
Research Opportunities
Students can work alongside faculty on research projects related to ecology, conservation, environmental policy, climate resilience, sustainability, environmental economics, wildlife management, GIS and spatial analysis, and natural resource systems. These experiences help students develop technical expertise, strengthen professional skills, and prepare for graduate study or environmental careers.
Internships and Field Placements
Internships and field placements provide opportunities to work with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, consulting firms, environmental education centers, parks, conservation organizations, and community partners. Students apply classroom learning to real-world environmental challenges while building professional experience and industry connections.
