The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment brings together expertise in environmental science, conservation, wildlife, policy, economics, sustainability, and community engagement to address some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges. Through collaborative teaching, research, and outreach, the department prepares students to understand complex environmental systems and develop solutions that support both people and the planet.

Our department advances UConn’s land-grant mission by fostering interdisciplinary education, impactful research, and community-engaged scholarship focused on natural resources and environmental sustainability.
